Care and repair
Care advice:
The best way to keep your clothing in good condition is to read the wash care label. Some top tips that people often miss:
- Avoid fabric softeners as they interfere with wicking and water repellency
- Heat (i.e. tumble drying) is generally bad for knitted fabrics, fleece, baselayers and anything with elastane fibres (causing them to degrade faster)
- Heat is good for insulation and woven fabrics with DWR, as it helps dry them thoroughly, re-loft and re-activates the water repellency
Repairs:
Accidents happen: a barb wire fence, a wayward ember from a fire or a super sharp ice axe are all going to win in a fight with your clothing (unless you are wearing a suit of armour!).
