There's nothing worse than a cold backside and legs when you're active in cold conditions, whether that's running, hiking, climbing or skiing. Enter the Thermal Power Leggings.

Thick, soft and fleecy on the inside to keep you warm, with a high rise that closes the gap between layers and an elastic-free waistband that won't dig in. Wear them on their own for a winter walk or run, and simply add layers over the top as the weather dictates. They're so comfy you can even sleep in them if you have to!

Polartec Power Stretch® Pro™ is a dual-faced fabric: brushed and fleecy against your skin, smooth and hard-wearing on the outside. The soft side traps warm air and moves moisture, keeping you comfortable while the smooth side resists abrasion and layers easily.

It stretches four ways and recovers its shape, so it moves with you rather than restricting you, and adapts to your body. It's the fabric we keep coming back to for cold, active days.

High rise and close fitting through the leg. Fold the waistband down if you prefer a lower rise.

Cold legs ruin a day faster than almost anything, and the legwear meant to prevent it usually brings its own problems: elasticated waistbands that dig in under a harness or hip belt, scratchy labels, and fabric that turns cold and clammy when it gets wet.

We set out to fix all three. An elastic-free high rise waistband that stays put without pressure, so there's no cold gap between layers - and if you'd rather a lower rise, fold it down. A brushed inside that stays warm even when it's damp. And enough stretch that you won't even notice them once they are on.

These are the leggings we wear all winter, and the reason we stopped looking for better ones.

Do-everything winter (sometimes summer) leggings

"I've lived in these leggings most of the winter - from working at home to Scottish ski weekends. I thought I'd put them away for the summer, but thankful I put them on again yesterday in mid-June for an unseasonably chilly, wet and windy hill-day in the West Highlands. The cut is good with a comfy waist and the crotch in the right place. The material bobbled when worn underneath my waterproofs, so they lost that new look a bit quicker than I'd hoped, but in all other respects they've been great and used a lot more than even I had expected."
